ABOUT THE PROPOSAL

The Contact Research course approaches CI practice in two modules led by Bia Vinzon and Dani Abi-Rihan. We will explore research universes in CI, themes such as flow, weight, space and relationship, combining and integrating different techniques and concepts.

Classes are divided into two modules. Along the way we will get to know the work of these two artists, deepen the investigation from each one's perspective and then find paths for possible dialogues.


ABOUT THE TEACHERS

Dani Abi-Rihan approaches the relational dimension of Contact through games, play and exercises that work with weight, space and the other. Her research Espaço Em Jogo brings folk dances, jiu-jitsu and capoeira to add possibilities to the game of Contact.

Bia Vinzon brings Somatic Education, water poetics and floorwork to support CI research. The class will explore how Weight Falls Like a River, through flow, entries and exits from the floor, carrying and flights.

Friday Contact Improvisation Jam

The Jam is a meeting for experimentation and practice of contact improvisation.

CONTACT IMPROVISATION is a body dialogue between two or more people through a sensory vocabulary of touch, weight and pressure. It is the acceptance of the other and of oneself in building a unique dance in the present.

The movements that arise from the technique deal with inertia, momentum, imbalance and the unexpected, ranging from a high aerobic level to physical stillness.

Fridays from 20:00 to 22:30 Suggested contribution: 30 BRL
Contact improvisation circle in the house hall, with participants lying down, in pairs and supporting each other on the wooden floor

MOVA.CI Pass

The Mova C.I. pass is a monthly payment for access to all contact improvisation activities at Espaço Mova.

Classes + Jams Pass270 BRL

Gives you access to all regular jams (Friday jams, Sonora Jam and Movajam) and to the regular Friday classes, 18:30 to 20:00, with Bia Vinzon and Dani Abi-Rihan.

Jams Pass100 BRL monthly

Gives you access to all regular jams at Espaço Mova.

Note: Espaço Mova is a space that hosts different artistic activities. Teachers are independent and rent our rooms to offer their classes, so all sign-ups and monthly payments are made during the classes, directly with them.
